Meet the Snake Plant! Aka Mother-in-law-tongue. Aka Saint George's sword. Aka Viper's Bowstring Hemp. No matter the common name you use for this lovely plant, it is known in the trade by it's Latin name: Dracaena trifasciata.
"Hold up! I have that plant, and it's not a Dracaena, it's a Sansevieria!" You're not wrong.
Just like that time that girl, Jenny, from grade school, started going by Jennifer in her 20's, plants sometimes go through a bit of a re-branding. In the case of this classic plant, scientists realized that they were genetically too closely related to Dracaenas to be in their own genus.
But hey, you knew this babe back when they went by Sansevieria, so if you want to keep calling them that, it's fine.
Anywho, these plants are one of the BEST for NEW PLANT PARENTS. They like bright, diffused/indirect light, but are one of the best rated house plants since they can tolerate lower light levels than most. They also require very little water so no need to call in favors and get your friend to come water them while you're on vacation.
We're always mixing up the varieties we carry, so stop in the shop and become the proud parent of one of these agreeable lil guys today!
